Williams made an instant impact for Gulliver Prep's defense as he totaled 81 tackles and 18 sacks will playing the defensive end position. He was named to the 2008 1st Team All-Dade squad for his play on the field.
"I felt I could have done better. If I would have hit the weight room earlier, and had worked harder, I could have had an even better year. When I transferred in from Doral Aca, I got behind in the gym. It showed to me, but I am satisfied that I helped us get to the state championship game."
Conditioning will be a major focus this season.
"I want to work on using my hands and getting in better condition so I do not get tired like I did last year. I need to get bigger, stronger, and faster this offseason. So far, I feel like I have done that. I am up to 220 right now, and I am in the best shape of my life."
Ralph attended the Scout combine last spring in Miami and measured in at 6 1/2", 218 and ran a 4.63 with a 34" vertical..
"I feel like I am much faster now, and I am in way better shape. This summer is going to tell me where I stand when I start going to some camps."
A new position is also on the horizon.
"I am moving to LB this year because that is what I am going to pay in college. I have played defensive end my whole career, last year they put me in a lot of formation where a LB normally plays, so it is not going to be that hard of a transition."
Ralph describes his game as a "playmaker".
"If it is a big third down, and you need a big play, I always come up with it. I will make a big sack, or cause a fumble and change the game. I make a lot of plays in the backfield."
Which college camps will Williams attend this summer?
"Ole Miss is it as of right now. I am going to try and do Florida's, but I do not know about that one yet. I know I am going to Ole Miss' on June 7th, but that is the only one I know for sure for now."
Two of Ralph's teammates,Artice Kellam and Frank Crawford, inked with the Rebels in February.
"I talk to their coaches three of four days ago, and they asked for my highlight film. I sent it to them, and now I am waiting to hear back. I have heard a lot of good things about their school from Artice (Kellam) and (Frank) Crawford. I can't wait to experience it for myself."
Who else is involved in Ralph's recruitment?
"Colorado State and Boston College. I do not have any offers yet, but they send me a lot of mail and Florida State does too. It does not matter, but I have got my mind on Ole Miss right now. It is all about Ole Miss right now."
Why Ole Miss?
"I just like the way they play. I like how they made a complete turnaround in a season. When I saw them beat Florida, that really caught my eye, and I just started watching them on TV every game that was on down here. I just like their style. I like their players too."
What stands out about the FSU, Boston College, and Colorado State?
"I do not know anything about Boston College or Colorado State, but I have some friends who go to FSU too. They are trying to turn it around."
Williams has two things on mind when it comes to decision time.
"I want to go to a college that has a chance to win the national championship. I also want them to give me a chance to start as a freshman so I can showcase my talents."
