Similar seasons for Nutt, Gundy

IRVING, Texas - For Cotton Bowl head coaches Houston Nutt and Mike Gundy, the 2009 regular season was marked with high expectations. But after seeing their squads endure inconsistency for the better part of 12 games, they meet for the first time in Dallas. View the video inside.

Often referred to as a season of "uncharted waters" by Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt, the 2009 season saw the Rebels climb as high as No. 4 in the national rankings before returning to Dallas for the 74th annual AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.

At the time, it was the highest ranking for a Nutt-coached team in his career, and the first No. 4 standing for Ole Miss since 1970. However, as the year wore on, the Rebels endured trying times. With an 8-4 (4-4 SEC) regular season record, a year with Atlanta aspirations fell short.

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy can relate. Though the Cowboys finished second in the Big 12 South, they were seeking a berth in the BCS.

Instead, the pair now meets for the first time in Dallas.
