When recalling Ole Miss' 21-7 win over No. 21 Oklahoma State in the 74th annual AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic Saturday, some will say the Rebels claimed victory in uninspiring fashion.
There were an array of turnovers on both sides. Ole Miss coughed up five on the day, while the Cowboys accounted for seven of their own. From penalties to missed opportunities offensively, this one was nothing short of a sloppy effort until the final whistle.
But with their 9-4 finish, the Rebels posted back-to-back nine-win seasons for the first time since 1961-62. Ole Miss also improved to 2-1 this season vs. ranked opponents, and have now won eight of their last nine bowl games.
And for some 27 seniors, including Cotton Bowl Offensive MVP Dexter McCluster, no ending was more fitting.
