Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt loves to "turn up the heat."

As his team begins its stretching, even amidst a perfectly sunny day on the first day of April, he'll beg for more of it. He often yells the phrase with enthusiasm, as a sort of motivational tool for those rigorous mid-spring practices.

The heat was certainly turned up Thursday, as the Rebels took to the practice fields in full pads and underneath 80 degree conditions.

After stretch, the team broke into bull in the ring drills to get those competitive juices flowing, before positional work took place for much of the day.

Ole Miss used close to two hours and upwards of 20 periods for practice, including team scrimmaging with limited contact, to conclude the day's action.

Following practice, Nutt met with the media to discuss the progress of his team so far.

The topic of embattled safety Darius "Tig" Barksdale was approached, as was Friday's 9:30 a.m. scrimmage inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
