Final Verdicts

Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt, defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix and quarterback Nathan Stanley met with the media shortly following Saturday's scrimmage. View the videos inside.

Some 20 plays into Saturday's two-hour, full-contact scrimmage inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, the Ole Miss offense was experiencing more of the same.

Quarterback Nathan Stanley was sacked three times and intercepted by freshman cornerback Ryan Campbell in the first seven plays.

Defensive end Kentrell Lockett followed shortly after by breaking through the offensive front for a sack and safety.

The defense was, again, in total control - "gangbusters," according to defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix.

But as the day wore on, a sputtering offense began to build momentum.

Stanley managed completion after completion, and finished a workmanlike 10-of-19 for 137 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

However, despite the positives, head coach Houston Nutt was quick to mention the offensive inconsistency when meeting with the media after practice.

Nutt, who is entering his third season at Ole Miss, said dropped passes and turnovers continue to be a problem with the final week of spring drills a day away.
