Shoulder Setback

Redshirt freshman quarterback Raymond Cotton has a partially torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt announced Friday.

Cotton, who suffered a similar injury in high school, has been limited in practice since opening spring drills in competition with sophomore Nathan Stanley. Although still possible, Cotton will not have surgery.

Instead, Nutt said he is expects the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder to participate in Saturday's annual Red-Blue game at 1 p.m.

Nathan Stanley

In Cotton's absence, Stanley has pulled away in the battle for starting duties when the team opens camp in August.

Stanley also met the media following practice Friday, detailing his goals as spring practice inches towards its conclusion inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
