Jeremiah Masoli threw two touchdown passes in the scrimmage, both of them of the impressive variety.
He hit Melvin Harris on a pass and Harris outran everyone for a 76-yard score. Masoli also connected with Lionel Breaux on a beautiful catch in the corner of the end zone as the senior signal-caller placed it right in Breaux's hands just before he went out of bounds.
Masoli finished the day 5-of-10 for 124 yards.
Randall Mackey threw a touchdown pass of 42 yards to Richie Contartesi. The junior transfer QB from East Mississippi was 4-for-9 on the day for 72 yards.
"I've been excited about the last three or four days," Ole Miss Coach Houston Nutt said. "I really thought we improved. We're getting better. We've found some guys at certain positions that can help us as far as depth we're building.
"I was really pleased, and everybody was really into it (Saturday night)," he continued. "We're getting better, and now we've just got to finish it up and get ready here the next couple of weeks. We've really got to start zeroing in on our opponents."
A couple of other quarterbacks posted numbers as Evan Ingram was 2-for-3 for 28 yards and Witt Haggard was 2-for-4 for 62 yards.
Eleven different Rebels had receptions, led by emerging star Harris with four for 129 yards, including the impressive touchdown jaunt. Ja-Mes Logan had three receptions for 77 yards, Jesse Grandy three for 27, Brandon Bolden three for 26, and Korvic Neat three for nine yards. Others who caught the football on this day were Breaux with two catches for 26 yards, including one for a TD, and Contartesi with two for 54 yards, including one for a TD. Derrick Davis, Vincent Moss, Enrique Davis, and Ferbia Allen each had one reception.
In the rushing department, true freshman Jeff Scott continues to impress with six carries for 43 yards and a touchdown. Another true frosh, Nicholas Parker, had four carries for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Devin Thomas had five carries for 22 yards and a touchdown. Rodney Scott carried the football four times for 27 yards. Others who rushed were Bolden with five carries for 15 yards, Earnest Harmon three for 10, along with Derrick Herman, Neat, Ingram and H.R. Greer each with one rush.
Bryson Rose was 2-for-3 in the PK department, with all three attempts from 42 yards. Andrew Ritter was 2-for-2 with kicks of 34 and 39 yards.
Tyler Campbell wasn't quite booming his punts as usual, with three of them for 40, 46, and 40 yards. Ritter punted twice for 36 and 48 yards, while Chris Conley punted three times with a long of 51 yards and two more of 38 and 35.
Ritter put both his kickoffs into the end zone. David Hankins placed one at the 13-yard line and another at the 5. On the receiving end of the kickoffs were Grandy twice and Jeff Scott twice.
Defensively D.T. Shackelford was credited with 3.5 sacks. Freshman Brishen Matthews came up with some big hits and was singled out as having an impressive scrimmage by Nutt. Brandon Sanders had multiple stops, while Corey Gaines was also in on quite a few defensive plays.
