Better to lose this way than in a heartbreaker. Casey's not gonna have to go very deep into the bullpen, and the players can just chalk this up to a wacky first inning and put it past them. That's the way baseball goes sometimes. Gaviglio is a helluva lot better pitcher than he showed tonight. Hopefully the huge blowout win will even make Vanderbilt a little bit complacent and think they've already got it in the bag.
Do you guys remember the 2006 championship series vs. North Carolina? The Beavs lost game 1, and were getting absolutely worked in game 2. I think it was like 7-0 or something ridiculous in the 5th or 6th inning. The TV cameras showed North Carolina players in the dugout celebrating. They thought it was over. But the Beavs came back to win game 2, then took game 3 to win the first of back-to-back national championships.
Not sure if this team has the heart or even the horses to emulate that team, and it will be a lot tougher without Osich, but I fully expect that other guys will step up, and we'll see a much better effort from the Beavers tomorrow.

I hate to be a negative nelly but maybe next year . This team is simply not on the level of the SEC . Vandy wins this series easily.
I hope I am wrong really I do , but I don't see us making a dent in this round . Vandy is just better than us . If I am wrong I will tweet the baseball team and apologize . I want a CWS championship as much as anyone . Just think I might be facing reality.
