Beavs heavy underdogs in 114th Civil War

OREGON STATE FACES on Saturday an Oregon team that ranks first in the Pac-10 in five statistical categories. And in none of the 17 Pac-10 statistical groupings do the Ducks rank less than fifth. There's little question Las Vegas was keenly aware of those and other numbers when they set the line, installing Oregon State as a 15.5 point underdog for the 114th Civil War.

Oregon ranks No. 1 in the conference in rushing offense, total offense and scoring offense. They also rate No. 1 in the nation in the latter two.

Oregon also ranks No. 1 in the Pac-10 and nation in punt returns, and are tops in the Pac-10 in pass efficiency defense.

Oregon's two worst ratings on paper are found in passing offense and passing defense, though "worst" is a relative term considering there are 120 teams ranked in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

The Ducks rank No. 5 in the conference and No. 42 nationally in passing offense. In pass defense, they're No. 5 and No. 56, respectively.

A look at the statistical rankings for both Oregon and Oregon State.
