COMMIT: Speedy LB goes black and orange

TALKED ABOUT FOR months out in cyberspace, it's finally become reality. A 3-star linebacker out of Lawton, Okla., one who brings a whole lot of speed to the table, has solidified his verbal commitment to Oregon State over another Pac-10 school.

Jabral Johnson (6-2, 220) is Corvallis-bound.

"It just felt so family oriented to me, and that the coaches were just there for me. They knew I was previously committed (to Arizona) and they just didn't give up," said Johnson.

Johnson at Lawton High went triple digits in tackles this season, with 112. He also knows a little something about playing the pass, grabbing 5 interceptions during his senior campaign.

ANY CHANCE ARIZONA gets back in the door before Signing Day?

"No, I'm finished with recruiting, I'm not going back. I'll sign with Oregon State in February," said Johnson.

Mike Riley was in the Johnson living room this past week and made an impression.

"You can just tell he knew a lot about what he was talking about. My family really trusted him and they knew that although I'm going far away I'm going to be in good hands," said Johnson.

WHAT OREGON STATE gets in Johnson is a ‘backer who brings speed and hard hits to the fore.

"Oregon State told me when they offered that they liked I was a good sized linebacker with speed, that I had good awareness and competitiveness. It will be harder at the collegiate level…but hopefully I'll bring some speed to the game," said Johnson.
