Gonzales still wide open post OSU-visit?

AKEEM GONZALES, out of Mission Hills, Calif., was in Corvallis this weekend for an official visit. Is the 6-4, 250 Bishop Alemany High product still wide open following his OSU official? Does Oregon State see him at his preferred position -- defensive end -- or on offense? And does OSU offer him something unique that other schools do not? Answers are right this way..

"I had a really good time," said Akeem Gonzales. "My cousin, Malcolm Marable, goes there and he was my host. We have played football together since peewee so that was cool."

"I got to hang out with the Rodgers brothers and go to a basketball game," said Gonzales.

The Beavers want Gonzales to come in and play defensive end, a position he prefers over offense.

"I was with Coach Riley most of the weekend," said Gonzales. "We talked about how they want to use me on defense."

While Gonzales loved the visit, he wasn't ready to make a commitment.

"I am going to stay open," said Gonzales. "I have a lot of friends at OSU though, that isn't really something that I have anywhere else."

Even though Gonzales wasn't ready to commit, he was ready to narrow his list down a bit.

"Right now it is the three schools I have visited… ASU, OSU and Nebraska," said Gonzales. "Then Colorado and Utah. I am trying to set up visits with them the next two weekends."

Gonzales mentioned a sixth school that could also get into the mix.

"Arkansas hasn't offered yet," said Gonzales. "But my brother just moved there and my friend, Dillon Van der Wal, is headed there this weekend for a visit… So I might visit there."

While Gonzales isn't sure which school he will attend, he does know what he is looking for in a college program.

"I'm gonna go to the school where I feel like I fit in the best…"
