Oklahoma 'backer fully on board with Beavs

JABRAL JOHNSON IS a hard-hitting, fast linebacker out of Lawton, Okla. who was once committed to Arizona before going black and orange. So when he took an official trip to Texas Tech recently, Beaver fans became a bit concerned. No need to be, says Johnson.

"I'm 100 percent Beaver – nothing against Texas Tech but they didn't compare to the coach staff at Oregon State and the closeness of the players at Oregon State," said Johnson.

Johnson (6-2, 220) said he took the trip because he has family in the area and it made sense to fully consider all of his options, so that his final decision of Oregon State would be one he'd feel that much better about. So does he?

"Absolutely. I'm signing with Oregon State," said Johnson.

Johnson said he's had Oregon State in for two in-home visits over the past month or so, and they've talked a little about what OSU sees him doing once he arrives at Oregon State.

"I can play the run and I can drop in coverage, but I don't know if I'll be at SAM or WIL," said Johnson. "I hope I can earn some time at one of those spots (early) but I know the special teams coach has said he's looking forward to me getting there.

"Whatever I do, special teams, at outside linebacker, I'm just looking forward to getting up there and doing what I can and helping (the team)."

Johnson at Lawton High racked up 112 tackles this season.

And he certainly does know something about dropping into coverage, snagging 5 interceptions during his senior campaign.
