BASEBALL: Beavs white hot, go for sweep Sun.

THE BEAVERS BASEBALL team remains white hot. After riding a 12-game win streak and vaulting into the Top 25, Oregon State is making a run at another series sweep on Sunday. The Beavers 18-5 mark is OSU's team's best start through 23 games since 2007, when Oregon State become only the fifth team in history to win back-to-back national championships.

The spring weather has yet to heat up but OSU has caught fire on the diamond, going 15-2 in its last 17 starts.

Parker Berberet homered and the No. 23 ranked Beavers laced 11 hits against five UC Santa Barbara pitchers in an 11-5 win over the Gauchos (10-8) Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium.

The victory gave Oregon State a series win, and marked the Beavers' third consecutive victory. The Beavers go for the sweep on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT.

Berberet's home run punctuated Oregon State's day offensively, with eight different players tallying at least one hit. Berberet went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.

He was matched by Ryan Barnes, who went 2-for-3 with a pair of "ribbies", while Danny Hayes drove in three on a 1-for-4 day and Jared Norris plated two with a 1-for-5 day.

OSU took a commanding 8-2 lead after three innings. OSU starter Josh Osich rode five innings of work to his third win of the season. He struck out five, walked three and allowed three hits and two runs in his sixth start of the season.
