Weathersby in Stable Condition

Oregon State's career pass breakup leader, Dennis Weathersby, is in stable condition after being shot Sunday night.

No surgery was required on the wounds in his back and arm. Recovery time for the cornerback is unknown.

Weathersby, 22, was shot in the back around 5:30 p.m. in his hometown of Duarte, CA. The city is known for its high level of gang activity.

The future NFL player started 27 straight games and broke up passes in 34 of 48 games during his four year career with the Beavers.

Most NFL teams expected Weathersby to be drafted in the second round, but some teams had the 6-foot-0 star going late in the first round.

Weathersby was recruited to Oregon State by current head coach Mike Riley.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Weathersby and Oregon State football family.
