Beavs prepare for Selection Show Monday

OREGON STATE lost a 6-0 decision to Oregon Sunday at PK Park in the regular season finale for both teams, and it was a clean sweep. But the Beavers were announced as one of 16 regional hosts for the NCAA postseason, which starts on Friday. The announcement made official the Beavers had earned a postseason berth.

The NCAA selection show for the entire field will be announced at 9:30 a.m. PT Monday morning on ESPN.

The Beavers closed out the regular season with a 38-17 overall record and 17-10 mark in Pacific-10 Conference play. The 17 league wins are the second-most for the club since the Pac-10 unified in 1999. The 17 wins also places the Beavers in second place, one game shy of league champion UCLA.

Oregon State last hosted an NCAA Regional in 2006, taking all three games from Wright State, Kansas and Hawaii.

The Beavs ended the season on a season-high five game skid, in the process losing their first two conference series of the year.

OSU was, however, the hottest team in college baseball for an extended time this season, shooting up the polls to a No. 2 ranking.
