But two straight wins would put the Beavs in the College World Series.
It's now do or die time for Oregon State.
OSU was waxed Friday in an 11-1 decision to Vanderbilt in front of 3,349 at Hawkins Field in the opening game of the Nashville Super Regional.
The clubs will meet again Saturday night at 6 p.m. PT (8 p.m. in Nashville) in game two of the best-of-three series. The game will be televised on ESPN2. It is also available online at espn3.com. Oregon State will also be providing updates at Twitter.com/Beaver_Baseball.
On Friday, OSU ace Sam Gaviglio started for the Beavers but it wasn't his night. He went 5 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits and 10 runs while walking six and striking out three.
Gaviglio had walked 27 man all year before Friday night. Seven of the first eight Vandy runs were scored with two outs. The combination was lethal.
OSU managed only four hits and a run against Vanderbilt's Sonny Gray over 6 2/3 innings.
Vanderbilt (51-10) picked up four runs in the first, all of which came with two outs to set the tone.
