CORVALLIS – The Monday evening session, the second practice of the day, was held Reser Stadium, with players in shoulder pads and helmets. Freshman Tyrequek Zimmerman looked to be getting comfortable at a new position, and Jordan Poyer made a nifty pick but could he take it all the way back to the house?

Secondary notes: Two of the three DBs that didn't participate in Monday morning's session didn't participate Monday evening, either: Brandon Hardin (shoulder), Rashaad Reynolds (knee). Ryan Murphy (groin) did participate and got some work in with the 1s.

Safety Lance Mitchell sat out. Mitchell (groin) missed a day of practice last week as a precaution. It's assumed that was the case again this evening. Cornerback Brian Watkins sat out, as well.

Martin: Cornerback Sean Martin, who was injured in Monday's morning session, appeared in good spirits Monday evening. He didn't practice, but was in a jersey and shorts and spent a little time jogging around the field with injured wide receiver Micah Hatfield (thumb).

Freshman wide receiver Tyrequek Zimmerman practiced at safety Monday for the first time. Zimmerman had been performing well at receiver, but apparently the lack of depth in the secondary caused the change. It's unsure whether or not it was a temporary or permanent move. Mike Riley did say several weeks ago that it was possible one of the true freshmen receivers (there's four of them) would have to switch positions.

Zimmerman, Richard Mullaney and Tyler Trosin all played defense in high school. Zimmerman wore No. 8; safety Anthony Watkins wears his usual No. 3.

Jordan Poyer: Interception off Katz in 11 on 11 that he returned to the two yard-line.

Wide Receiver notebook:
Obum Gwacham got a lot of reps with the one's again. He almost reeled in a deep one between two defenders on a beautifully thrown pass by Katz, but he lost control as he hit the ground.

Rodgers: Was in a jersey and shorts. He was responsible for throwing to the receivers during their warm-up period. I asked Rodgers last week if he could potentially play "quarterback" in the "Wildcat" – the role his brother Jacquizz played last year. "Of course I can. All I can tell you is this: just watch me whenever I throw."

Linebacker notebook:
Cameron Collins: Was in pads, but didn't participate in 11 on 11. Te'o ran with the ones, and was followed in the rotation by freshman D.J. Welch.

Rueben Robinson: Usually backs up Collins, but he too watched the majority of practice from the sidelines. Like Collins, he was in shoulder pads but had his helmet in hand.

Josh Williams: Freshman Josh Williams (hip flexor) missed practice for the second time today.

Running Back notebook:
Essentially the same rotation as it's been -- still up in the air with nothing settled.

Storm Woods: He fumbled on an exchange with Sean Mannion on the two yard-line during redzone work. It was the only fumble of the session in what was an error-free practice for the most part.
