Collins first team All-Academic for 4th time

CAMERON COLLINS has become the ninth player in conference history to be named first team All-Academic four times.

Cameron Collins, a senior, had a 3.48 GPA and will graduate next month with a degree in business finance.

Collins, a linebacker from Santa Monica, Calif., was the only freshman in 2008 on the Pac-10 All-Academic first team.

He is only the ninth student-athlete in conference history to be named to the First Team four times and the second Beaver joining former cornerback Dennis Weathersby (1999-2002). The co-team captain also earned Capital One Academic All-District honors last week and is now a candidate for Academic All-America acclaim.

Collins was joined on the First Team for the second straight year by senior defensive tackle Kevin Frahm. Frahm, also a co-team captain, will graduate next month with a degree in political science.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.

Six other Beavs were named All-Academic Pac-12 honorable mention -- TE Connor Hamlett, RS Fr.; QB Ryan Katz, Jr.; LS Marcus Perry, Sr.; TE Colby Prince, Jr.; DT Andrew Seumalo, Jr., LB Tony Wilson, Jr.

Perry earned academic distinction for the third time while Prince, Seumalo and Wilson are all two-time honorees.
