Riley calls 2011 results unacceptable

MIKE RILEY following the Civil War said it was "unacceptable" how the season turned out. He said he'll look at himself first, and then evaluate everything else. "We're not in a good place today. We're going to work our tails off to turn this thing around," said Riley. Just don't expect those efforts to result in staff changes.

Mike Riley was decisive in saying he is not contemplating any staff changes. "Whatever we need to do structurally in football..practice..every way that I handle the team and every way the coaches coach…it's very obvious to me we can't be back here again," said Riley.

Riley said they need to look at changes on both offense and defense in order to be better.

Riley said Ryan Katz, Katz' dad and he met 2-3 weeks ago. He said he understood and agreed with Katz' decision and would help in any way he could. Riley said he wanted Katz to stay but he understood that he had one year left and wanted to play. Riley said didn't try to talk him out of it – "I didn't think it was that type of conversation." Riley said he was "absolutely" on good terms with Katz.

Riley said he thinks they'll still have good depth at quarterback.

Riley said he appreciated how the players stayed the course. "Unfortunately it wasn't good enough in the record books at all," said Riley.

Riley said in recruiting, they have a number of uncommitted recruits who they will be visiting and who will visit OSU over the next two months.

Riley said Linebackers, Corners, Safeties are points of emphasis in the remaining slots for the 2012 class.

Riley said the Beavs are looking at a number of junior college players, saying he wouldn't be surprised with "a handful" of JUCO signees.

Riley said there will be a complete medical evaluation so that "anything that is still lingering out there will be taken care of immediately."

Riley said James Rodgers, Lance Mitchell, Johnny Hekker are among the prospects that he thinks will draw NFL interest.

Riley didn't know Dennis Erickson had been let go. "Wow," was his reaction.
