COMMIT: LB headed to Beavs in January

LINEBACKER CADE COWDIN will be an early arrival to Oregon State in January, and a big reason why was the ability to close in the living room by Mike Riley.

Junior college 'backer Cade Cowdin (6-2, 230) was torn between South Florida and Oregon State. He said he made the choice to go black and orange after Mike Riley made his one and only in-home visit count this past week.

"Basically coach Riley came out for a home visit and that was really big, that meant a lot," said Cowdin, out of College of the Desert in Palm Desert, Calif.

Cowdin is expected to sign on Wednesday when the early signing period for JUCO players begins.

OSU is expected to use Cowdin in both a blitzing role and in dropping back into coverage -- any way they can to utilize his speed.

"Everything about the OSU program, it all felt right and made me feel that it was the best place for me and to see the field early," said Cowdin.

Cowdin racked up 61 tackles this season, including 5.5 tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks and two interceptions as a sophomore. he has three to play two at the next level.
