BREAKING: Cali Safety says he's OSU-bound

DEVIAN SHELTON told BF.C this week everything was telling him to go to Oregon State. And then he did. The 6-2, 180-pound safety talks to BF.C about his verbal commitment to the Beavers.

"Yes, I committed," Devian Shelton told BF.C. "The relationship with the coaches was (the difference.)"

Shelton didn't have much time to talk beyond that but the Beavs are getting a versatile playmaker for their secondary.

"Few defensive backs have raised their stock like Shelton has," says West Manager Brandon Huffman. "Overshadowed at times by teammate Derrick Woods, Shelton is the more versatile defensive back of the two."

What was it that had schools like UA, ASU, WSU, Nebraska and others putting offers on the table this recruiting season?

"He has ability to play corner, thanks to his quick hips and backpedal, but also able to play safety with tremendous coverage awareness and hitting ability. His ability to play either spot should get him on the field early," said Huffman.
