HOOPS: Oregon State cruises to easy win

JARED CUNNINGHAM scored 20 points and Oregon State's defense registered 16 steals en route to a 76-58 victory over Utah on Saturday.

OSU scored the first points and never looked back, but the team made a mere 39.5 percent from the field in the first half and missed all eight opportunities behind the three-point line.

The Beavers still had a comfortable 38-25 advantage at the break.

Oregon State found ways to establish dominance around the basket from the opening tip. In the first half alone, the Beavers scored 26 points in the paint while limiting Utah to eight.

They also controlled the glass, collecting 22 rebounds compared to 15 for Utah before halftime.

Devon Collier added 14 points for the Beavers (15-8, 5-6 Pac-12), who won for the fourth time in their last five games.

Utah (5-18, 2-9) committed 22 turnovers overall and never got on track long enough to threaten Oregon State the way it did Oregon two nights earlier.

Cedric Martin scored 19 points for the Utes and Jason Washburn had one of his best games of the season with 15 points, eight blocked shots and six rebounds.
