TWO STATES HAVE produced the vast majority of the early known Oregon State offers for the 2013 class. One is California, no surprise there, the Golden State produces the most players on the Beaver roster. The other?

That would be Arizona.

Scout.com lists 33 known offers out from Oregon State, with state of California prospects holding 19 of those. Meanwhile, the Beavers have already offered 8 prospects from the state of Arizona.

Arizona is a key ancillary recruiting area for Oregon State, but that's a high early number.

The May Evaluation period is still several weeks away but the Beavs have already identified 8 prospects who fit into that "gotta offer now" category.

OSU's Mike Cavanaugh has long been the Beavs' point man in Arizona. The interesting thing about OSU's Arizona offers – seven of eight are at different positions -- CB, S, OT, RB, LB, DE and 2 WRs.

That's a pretty good indicator of how strong the Arizona 2013 class is and how hard OSU will be going at the ‘Zona class this recruiting cycle.

"The early look is that the top tier class of players in the 2013 class in Arizona is as good as it has ever been," says Scout.com Southwest Analyst Jason Jewell. "It reminds me of a few years ago when Devon Kennard and Corey Adams were coming out.

"As far as positions, I think there are 3 to 4 QBs that have a chance to go D-I. I think the offensive line class is very strong. Kenny Lacy leads the way with Charlie Renfree close behind but there are a ton of tall, long kids that will get plenty of attention. There are 3 DBs that are getting plenty of attention. Priest Willis, Cole Luke and Tyler Williams all hold BCS offers already."

OSU has five players on the roster from The two blue-chippers play on the defensive side of the ball – DE Marcus Farria and MLB Chans Cox are both already rated four stars.

OSU has five players on the roster from Three of the eight play at Centennial High in Peoria.

  • OSU has five players on the roster from Arizona -- OL Justin Addie, DE Rusty Fernando, LB Rueben Robinson, RB Jovan Stevenson and WR Markus Wheaton. (OT Geoff Garner, also from Arizona, is leaving the OSU program it was announced last week.)

OSU has five players on the roster from Cornerback Cole Luke hails from Chandler's Hamilton High, the same school the Beavs landed LB Rueben Robinson from.
