Rising Hawaii prospect likes Beavs' D

ONE OF THE more intriguing prospects coming out of Hawaii for the 2013 class has quietly been racking up the offers – his full-ride list now numbers in the double-digits. One of those offers is from the Beavers. And he likes the way OSU plays defense.

"The defense Oregon State runs, it's very nasty, how they get after the ball. They attack and I like that -- that's my passion, just to go out and hit somebody," said Kamalei Correa.

CORREA IS LISTED by Scout.com as a 3-star DT prospect at 6-3, 240, and the No. 8 DT prospect in the West.

His projected position varies, however, depending on the 11 schools that have offered. All told, he's being recruited at the three-technique, five-technique and outside linebacker.

OSU is recruiting him at the 3- or 5-technique position, he said.

CORREA HOLDS 11 OFFERS including six from the Pac-12 -- Oregon State, Arizona, ASU, Colorado, WSU, Utah, Hawaii, Boise State, San Diego State, Boise State, Kansas and Wyoming.

"It won't be an easy decision. I want to take all five of my official trips and then I'll take some time to discuss it with my family, I'm not going to decide for a while," said Correa.

Correa was named second team all-league and third team all-state as a junior.

He is also a standout basketball player for St. Louis.
