Things looking up for Cali QB

HE'S A QUARTERBACK from the 2013 class who played with Brandin Cooks back in the day. Now he's hearing from Oregon State and has been invited to the Elite 11...

Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln quarterback Zack Greenlee (6-2, 188), got his first offer last month, from Fresno State, a school who had been recruiting him heavily but hadn't yet offered.

When they did, it concluded a nice week-long stretch for Greenlee, who just the weekend before, was named the MVP of the Las Vegas Elite 11 Regional Camp and punched his ticket to the Elite 11 Finals in Redondo Beach later this month.

"I just tried to stay patient and keep working hard, and I knew good things would come," said Greenlee. "Getting that offer from Fresno State was a huge relief, but I have to keep working hard and staying humble."

Since the offer, Greenlee said he's stayed in steady contact with the Bulldog coaches.

"I'm staying in touch with them, and I'm really happy with Fresno State and was really relieved that day," said Greenlee.

In the meantime, Greenlee is still talking with Nevada, San Jose State and Oregon State.

"A couple of schools made note that I did well, Nevada and San Jose State," said Greenlee. "They heard about the MVP and they said that really helps."

Greenlee knew he was running out of chances to earn an invite to the Elite 11, that he'd need a big showing in Vegas to get that ticket.

"There was pressure, but I just wanted to stay consistent and take every rep like I normally do," said Greenlee. "I'm definitely excited about going to the finals. That will be huge, and I'll get a lot of good work and good coaching there."
