Injury Report Day 9, Evening Session:
Tyler Perry returned and was running a few plays on the 2's alongside Cody Vaz and Storm Woods. Perry looked healthy and played with gusto.
Terron Ward did not participate in round 2 tonight - the result of a tight hammy he experienced during the former half of practice this afternoon.
Rusty Fernando was in cleats and was carrying his helmet around - a change from earlier today when he did not partake in practice. Fernando did not appear to see any time during 11-on-11 drills.
D.J. Welch returned to his pads this evening and ran with the 1's and 2's.
Rashaad Reynolds was back in pads and playing on the 1's after sitting out earlier today with minor bumps and bruises.
Redshirt freshman Desmond Collins stopped participating with the defensive line early in practice – he left on the cart favoring his right foot, but the injury did not appear serious. We will keep you updated.
Freshman corner Tyler Hasty also sat out, but looked in good health.
Anthony Watkins, Caleb Smith, Chris Miller and Gavin Andrews also remained on the sidelines.
The last half of this evenings practice was almost solely dedicated to running two-minute drills with the 1 and 2 squads.
The Beavers looked rusty here and there – Markus Wheaton dropped a handful of easy passes from Sean Mannion and Vaz.
Richard Mullaney really showed up big tonight in the receiving corps. He had 10-plus catches, most of them crisp, professional looking grabs.
Mullaney, listed as a split end by Oregon State, might just inch his way into the fight for the starting slot receiver - he performed much better this evening than Obum Gwacham or Kevin Cummings, and was the preferred target for Mannion and Vaz alike.
Ryan Murphy and Jordan Poyer both excelled tonight – a handful of nice pass deflections between them.
The offensive line set up some nice running lanes this evening, and showed some promise during some passing packages in the two-minute drills.
Jake Welch and Isaac Seumalo stood out a bit – they opened up a big hole in the middle of the defensive line for Storm Woods toward the end of practice.
