Will Visit Oregon State

Adam Speer, a 6-3, 265 pound offensive lineman from West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade has quickly become one of the hottest prospects in the state. He had a dominant showing at the Nike Camp for the second straight year and was even more impressive at summer camps at both Notre Dame and UCLA.

Speer is a true road grader on the offensive line and projects very well at either guard or center. He's one of the most physical lineman in the region and his toughness and his mentality of wanting to dominate his man on every play is what sets him apart.

Athletically, Speer is light on his feet and tested very well at the NorCal Nike Camp running a 4.91 in the 40, 4.46 in the shuttle and did 24 reps on the bench. He also jumped 25 inches in the vertical and then topped that at Notre Dame's camp with a leap of 29 inches.

"Adam was also the only offensive lineman to not get beat one time in the one on one drills at Notre Dame's camp," Bill Speer, Adam's father said. "He had a great time and loved the campus and working with the coaches there."

In any other year, Speer likely would have come home with an offer from the Domers but we've heard the Irish may only take one interior lineman this year and when there's players out there like Jeff Byers (CO), Allen Smith (AZ) and Brandon Nicolas (CA), all who have shown interest in ND, you can see where it would be tough to offer at this time.

Speer spent the day at another one of his favorites, UCLA and said the Bruins are his current leaders.

"We spent about four hours at UCLA and had a great time," Speer said. "We toured the campus and got all of our academic questions answered. I still want to take a few more unofficial trips before making my decision and I'm set to go to Fresno State August 1, Oregon August 2 and Oregon State August 3. I would like to wait until I'm through with my trips before committing but UCLA is my favorite right now."

Academically, Speer is very solid carrying a 3.5 GPA with an 1100 on the SAT.
