Oregon State Recruiting Notebook

IT'S DOWN TO the nitty-gritty for the Oregon State 2013 recruiting class. The Beavs appear to be fairly well set with their guys, but are there a few surprises still out there?

With Signing Day less than 48 hours away, here are six that Oregon State remains in pursuit of before the fax machine gets rolling on Wednesday.

LB Keishawn Bierria: He just took a trip to UW and indications around the scout.com campfire appear that the Huskies are now in the catbird's seat. If Oregon State can pull off a game changer – maybe a great heart-to-heart conversation from newly installed LB coach Trent Bray? – then Bierria might end up one of the signing day surprises. But OSU, at the moment, appears to be on the outside looking in.

LB Edward Williams: A recent in-home by Oregon State was productive, but was it enough to sway Williams? Indications are that Texas Tech may have risen to the top of his list. The next 36 hours or so will be key, and OSU again looks like they'll need a game changer in their back pocket.

S L.J. Moore: How fast do things change in recruiting? Very fast. It sounds like ASU has jumped up and might even be considered the favorite over OSU and Oklahoma. The Beaver coaches might need to hit a home run over the course of the final hours to sway the sought safety.

Chidobe Awuzie – Keep an eye on this one. Oregon State came into the mix late but he appears to be down to Colorado and OSU. It won't be a stunner if he ends up going black and orange.

WR Tatum Taylor: Indications are that with the sport of track near and dear to Taylor, he's likely bound for ASU. But if Oregon State can prime that football itch of Taylor's again, he might end up with the Beavers. He would appear to be a great addition at the slot in the Beaver offense.

Corey Lawrence was among this group before he pulled the trigger on the Beavs. That leaves offensive tackle Blake Muir, who visited Oregon State last week. Muir, out of Kirrawee, New South Wales, signed with Hawaii as part of the 2011 class but has since left The Islands, and is looking around at Baylor, G-Tech and Oregon State.
