OSU BASEBALL NEWSLINE: Of fathers and sons

THE FIRST College World Series title for the Beavs, back in 2006, was special for OSU manager Pat Casey in ways apart from winning, as recounted by the Oregonian. That's because seven years ago, on the day the Beavers took home the title, is the first time he can remember his oldest son, 20 years old at the time, hugging him and saying, "I love you."

Jonathan Casey is a lean, 6-foot-5 blond, a 27-year-old with a big smile, quick to giggle and quicker to yell at an ump. He is the most competitive person in the Casey household -- "Seriously," Pat says -- and because he falls somewhere on the autism spectrum, Jon Casey pulls away from contact, and doesn't like to show affection.

That all changed on June 26, 2006.
