Glyeb Ewing out of is Oregon State-bound.
"I just committed to them a couple days ago," said Ewing, whose first name is pronounced "Gleb".
Ewing, out of Waulkon, Iowa, already checks in at 6-5, 235-pounds.
"Oregon State likes my speed and explosiveness, and then my frame -- they said I have a lot to build with still," said Ewing.
Ewing said he'll come to OSU as a defensive end.
SO HOW DOES a guy from Iowa end up at Oregon State? It seems to be as simple as mailing a tape.
"Oregon State needed a defensive end and I sent them my highlight tape.. it just went from there," said Ewing.
Ewing camped at OSU in June with his family and said he came away high on all things Oregon State.
He also formed a tight bond with the OSU assistant who offered him, d-line coach Joe Seumalo.
"I went to a camp there and fell in love with Oregon State, it's really pretty out there and there's a lot to do," said Ewing.
Ewing was born in Ukraine and moved to the United States at age 4. He returned to the Ukraine for a short time later and has been in the States since the seventh grade.
Most recruits tend to stick closer to home but Ewing said heading from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest never gave him a moment's pause, having traveled quite a bit already in his life.
