Jake Knight, out of Meridian, Idaho, called OSU graduate assistant Kyle DeVan, who is in charge of the tight ends, and made his verbal commitment, the Idaho Statesman reported.
"I really like the town and then coach (Mike) Riley is just a great guy and a good coach. All their coaches on their coaching staff are great," Knight told the paper. "They use the tight end a lot, and it was just a great fit."
The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder has 27 receptions for 526 yards and eight touchdowns this season at Rocky Mountain High.
"He has really good athleticism. He's physical. He runs well," said Rocky Mountain coach Scott Criner, who moved him from linebacker to tight end this season. "He has really nice hands. He is a skilled athlete in a big body."
Knight chose Oregon State over offers from Idaho and Weber State. He was also receiving interest from Oregon, Boise State and Arizona State.
Knight was a first-team 5A SIC selection at linebacker as a junior. He had three interceptions last season.
Knight and the Grizzlies will host conference rival Eagle in a state quarterfinal playoff game at 7 p.m. Friday.
