VERBAL: Riley & Banker close on 3-star DL

MIKE RILEY & MARK BANKER on Tuesday were in the living room of 3-star defensive line prospect Lamone Williams of Kahuku, Hawaii. By the time the sit-down had wrapped up, they had closed the deal and won a Pac-12 recruiting battle, with Williams telling BF.C he's Corvallis-bound. With the verbal pledge, the Beavers now boast three of's top five prospects from The Aloha State.

Lamone Williams (6-3, 245) held offers from OSU, Arizona State, Utah, WSU, Hawaii, Nevada and others. Having Mike Riley and Mark Banker in his living room last night was a key part of why he made the call.

"Coach Banker and Coach Riley came for a home visit … and them coming all this way definitely helped me with my decision.

"There's a lot of reasons why I verbally committed and one of those reasons was how much effort they put in recruiting me, and how much they care for student athletes after football," said Williams.

WILLIAMS IS AN intriguing get in part because of his versatility.

He's a guy who could conceivably even alternate with his hand down or as a stand-up BUCK-type in spots – he has that type of skills set.

"Oregon State looked at (and liked) my ability to be diverse on the defensive line," said Williams.

WITH FELLOW three-star verbals Fitou Fisiiahi (LB) and Kalani Vakameilalo (DT, soft verbal), the Beavs have three of the top five state of Hawaii 2014 recruits in the black and orange fold.

But before his verbal commitment to Oregon State, it was expected Williams would be taking at least one more official visit before Signing Day, likely to Wisconsin and Colorado. Are those still in the cards?

"As of right now I don't have any trips set up and if I do so, it'll be a family decision where I'll sit down with my parents and see if any more trips would be necessary," said Williams.

Riley's twitter page indicated he's headed to California next for some in-home visits:

"Ready to head back to the Mainland, Hawaii was great! California here we come! #GoBeavs"
