Baseball: Beavs going for series win

THE SAME SCENARIO played out last week -- Oregon State and a Pac-12 opponent with a Sunday game to decide the series. The Beavs lost that game and series a week ago. Oregon State is hoping for a better result this time around.

Oregon State (20-6, 5-3) needs to bolster their Pac-12 record. They trail the first place Huskies by two full games in conference play.

Jace Fry gets the start against Arizona (12-17, 2-6). Fry is 4-1 with a 2.08 ERA. The starter for Arizona is Austin Schnabel who has yet to get a win this season (0-3, 7.16).

The game is on the Pac-12 Networks and it's also being streamed online for those who have the Pac-12 Nets via their TV provider on Pac-12.com.

On Saturday, the Beavs got drilled 11-2 by Arizona. Starter Andrew Moore only lasted three innings and allowed 10 hits and six run. On Friday, the Beavs steamrolled UA by the same score, 11-2.

Beaver fans would love to see a repeat of 2011. Then, the Beavers were defeated 18-0 at Arizona to open conference play in 2011. OSU proceeded to win the final two games of the series and go on an 11-game win streak after the loss.

NOTABLE NOTES:
• Dylan Davis has four multi-hit efforts in his last six games. The junior has nine such outings overall this season.

• The Beavers are 5-1 on Sundays, including a 3-0 mark away from Goss Stadium.

• Dylan Davis moved into sole possession of sixth place in OSU history with 41 doubles after posting one in the ninth on Saturday.
