What Beavs are getting in new LB/S

OREGON STATE HAS lots of experience at outside linebacker for this upcoming season in their two senior starters. One of the guys they're bringing in to help replenish the linebacker stores, new verbal commit Tyrin Ferguson out of New Orleans, has been playing the game of football for only a year. The 6-3, 203-pound Ferguson announced on Twitter that he had pledged OSU.

Tyrin Ferguson is likely to get his first look at linebacker but safety could also be in the cards. He missed some time to injury early in his junior season but came back to play safety and rover, and even defensive end, this past season at Edna Karr High.

A former standout on the basketball court at Karr, he has gone from weighing 179 pounds during the hoops season to 203 pounds during their spring football session. He has gotten his 40 time down the low 4.8 range, according to the Times-Picayune.

Ferguson had offers from Troy and McNeese State and is receiving interest from several other schools, including Oklahoma State, where he plans to camp at in June.

"A lot of people in my family are in the Army," he told the T-P. "And I really just want to be in a position that I can travel around the country."

Although Ferguson has only played one season of football, there's still tape available:
