Beav pitcher's arrest leads to more questions

OREGON STATE STAR PITCHER Ben Wetzler was arrested early Saturday morning on charges of second-degree criminal mischief and first-degree criminal trespassing, both Class A misdemeanors.

What happens now is anyone's guess, neither Oregon State skipper Pat Casey or OSU have commented as to Ben Wetzler's status.

Wetzler was arrested at 443 NW 4th Street in Corvallis at 4:39 a.m., according to a report in The Oregonian that cited the Corvallis Police Department, and was released later Saturday.

Wetzler broke the front window of a Corvallis residence. The Oregonian, citing a Corvallis police spokesman, reported Wetzler was intoxicated and thought the residence was his own.

Wetzler's arrest came hours after Friday's win where he allowed two runs and posted eight strikeouts in eight innings of No. 2 OSU's 4-2 win over the Bruins.

Wetzler this season is 9-1 with a Pac-12-leading 0.94 ERA. Wetzler also set the all-time career wins mark this season, a total that now stands at 33.
