OSU's Moreland not second-guessing decision

ERIC MORELAND WASN'T TAKEN in the NBA Draft. So some might think the uber-athletic forward would regret the decision to forgo his senior season at Oregon State and go pro early. Not so.

"I'm completely happy," Eric Moreland told the Oregonian after the draft. "I don't regret anything, not how I worked out, not leaving school. I thought this was the best decision for me."

A few NBA clubs talked about taking Moreland in the second round, Moreland said, but there was a catch. They wanted him to spend next season overseas or in the development league.

"I was just like, 'Let's just go undrafted,'" he recalled Friday. "I'd rather just go the free-agency route.' Of course, I wanted to get drafted, but at the same time, I have to think about what's best for me."

With eight-plus undrafted free agent offers on the table, Moreland has decided to join the Sacramento Kings' summer league team in Las Vegas (July 11-21). He also plans to tentatively play with the Miami Heat's squad in Orlando (July 5-11).

Five players from last season's Kings team -- including former OSU standout Jared Cunningham -- are slated for summer league.
