Oregon State to open 2018 at Ohio State

OREGON STATE will open the 2018 football season in Columbus against Ohio State, it was announced in a release by the school. The game is set for Sept. 1 of Labor Day Weekend at Ohio Stadium, the fourth-largest venue in college football with a current capacity of 104,944.

The matchup will mark the third in the series against the Buckeyes. Ohio State has won both previous meetings in Columbus, 22-14 in 1984 and 51-10 in 1974.

OSU officials are seeking a third non-conference game for the 2018 season with a previously announced date at Nevada the third week of the season. The Wolf Pack play in Corvallis during the ’17 season.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for our program to play such a traditional power at a fantastic and historical stadium,” Beaver head coach Mike Riley said. “Our players always look forward to competing in a challenging environment like Ohio State.”

The Beavers have a history of playing in large venues and Sept. 12 of next season travel to Michigan’s “Big House”, currently the largest stadium in college football at 109,900. OSU also has recently played at Penn State’s Beaver Stadium (2nd-largest at 106,572) and LSU’s Tiger Stadium (6th @ 102,321).

The Beavers are currently in their second week of practice for the 2014 campaign that begins Aug. 30 against Portland State.

Season tickets (and other ticket packages) remain available in all sections of the stadium. Purchases can be made by contacting the ticket office via this link, or during business hours at Gill Coliseum or at 1-800-GO-BEAVS. The seven-game home schedule includes the 118th edition of the Civil War, presented by The Oregon College Savings Plan, PacificSource Health Plans, Your Local Ford Stores, Wells Fargo and McDonald’s. The remainder of the home slate includes Portland State, San Diego State, Utah, California, Washington State and Arizona State.
