OSU makes it official: Crawford coming in Jan

OREGON STATE HAS made it official, Corvallis – Class of 2014 defensive back Xavier Crawford is delaying enrollment and will join the team for winter term in January. Crawford has signed a financial aid agreement to attend OSU and will have five years to play four once his clock starts.

Xavier Crawford was rated the 96th best cornerback prospect in the country by Scout.com following his 2013 season at newly opened Clayton Valley High in Concord, Calif. He helped Clayton Valley to a 9-1 record as a senior in 2013 and to a share of the Diablo League championship.

In addition to his play on defense, the 6-0, 175-pound Crawford also played running back. The two-sport athlete also captured 2014 league titles in track and field in the 100- and 200-meter sprints.

Crawford attended Pittsburg High in California up until his senior year.

Oregon State has the weekend off before resuming game action Sat., Sept. 20 when the Beavers look to remain undefeated hosting the San Diego State Aztecs in the final non-conference game of the season.

SDSU had No. 21 North Carolina on the ropes last weekend but two costly turnovers resulted in a 31-27 loss. SDSU had a 14 point lead with less than 5 minutes left in the third quarter.

Tickets for the game can be purchased at beavertickets.com.

Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be televised by Fox Sports 1.
