Beavs: RT Andrews out 2-4, Stanton to start

WITH GAVIN ANDREWS out 2-4 weeks with a hairline fracture of his ankle, converted tight end Dustin Stanton will run with the 1's this week in practice in advance of making his first career start at right tackle against Stanford.

Dustin Stanton (6-5, 270, pictured above from last year as a tight end) and the Beaver o-line figure to have their hands full.

Stanford has made life difficult on opposing offensive lines all season.

The injury update Sunday night at least had some good news.

Running back Storm Woods and defensive end Jaswha James, both of whom suffered knee injuries against Utah, may be limited early in the practice week but both should be ready to go by game time (Saturday, 12:30 p.m., ABC/ESPN).

But the injury news was more dire elsewhere.

The Beavs will be lucky to get split end Richard Mullaney (broken elbow) back this season, Mike Riley said.

Jordan Villamin is the probable starter in Mullaney's place.

Tight end Kellen Clute (knee) is expected to be out for four weeks.

NOTABLE NOTES:
  • Garrett Weinreich has had good practices of late and will get a long look at left guard this week, battling with Roman Sapolu.

  • DT Jalen Grimble is "making progress," said Riley.
