HALFTIME: Beavs trail 21-16 at home

EVERYTHING OSU HAS drawn criticism for this season was on display in the first half against Wazzu. Take a 10-lead and then take your foot off the gas? Check. Poor clock management? Check. Go away from the run? You bet. OSU had only 11 yards rushing in the first half. They trail 21-16 at the break. And they burned through precious seconds at the end of the half and settled for a field goal.

Oregon State came out on fire. A 4-play, 75-yard drive in less than two minutes gave the Beavs a quick 7-0 lead. Sean Mannion connected with Rahmel Dockery for 49 yards on the first play from scrimmage.

OSU stopped themselves on their second drive after WSU missed a field goal, settling for a Garrett Owens boot to go up 10-0, (Trevor Romaine is out after being suspended one game for an unspecified violation of team rules.)

But then OSU lost momentum. The Beavers have made Washington State QB Luke Falk, making his first collegiate start, look like a seasoned veteran, with three TD passes in the first half.

Worse, WSU has run somewhat effectively against the Beaver defense in the first two quarters.

The Beavs need to grab momentum coming out of the locker room and turn the tide. In their favor, WSU has faltered this season at the start of the third quarter. Stay tuned.
