Nelson third Beav CB to play in Sr. Bowl

OREGON STATE senior cornerback Steven Nelson is going to get a long NFL look. One place he'll be displaying his wares is in the Senior Bowl All-Star game.

Steven Nelson is the highest-rated draft pick on nfldraftscout.com, projected as a 3-4 round draft pick. Sean Mannion is the only other Beaver projected to be drafted by the site, as a fifth-rounder.

Nelson lettered in his two years for the Beavers after joining the program in 2013 from the College of the Sequoias, where he earned All-Northern California Football Association honors.

The Warner Robins, Ga., native was a Pac-12 Conference Honorable mention pick last season (this year’s All-Pac-12 team will be announced Tuesday at 7 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks).

His two-year Beaver career included 122 total tackles, eight interceptions and 16 pass breakups.

Nelson will be the third OSU cornerback to ever play in the Senior Bowl, joining Keenan Lewis (New Orleans Saints) in 2007 and Jordan Poyer (Cleveland Browns) in 2013.

The game will air on the NFL Network Sat., Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. PST from Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.
