Gary Andersen officially adds to OSU staff

GARY ANDERSEN officially announced Tuesday the additions of two administrative staff members -- Darrick Yray (pronounced Ray) and Zak Bigelow, the school said in a release. Yray serves as the assistant director of player personnel and Bigelow the assistant director of football operations.

Yray provides administrative support for the overall operations of the Beavers’ football program, including the identification of potential student-athletes and scheduling official and unofficial visits to campus.

He comes to Oregon State after spending the last three seasons at Fresno State as the assistant director of football operations. While at FSU he was the NFL liaison and assisted with recruiting, team travel and other duties with regards to the daily operations.

The Linden, Calif., native graduate from Fresno State in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and earned his master’s in kinesiology in 2013.

Bigelow assists in the day-to-day administration of the football program, including team travel, recruiting travel, budgetary management, and serving as a liaison with various support departments.

The Littleton, Colo., native comes to OSU from Northern Colorado where he spent the last two seasons as the Bears’ director of football operations. His duties at UNC included management of the program’s budget, team travel, on-campus recruiting, fundraising and other day-to-day responsibilities. He also spent one year as an offensive quality control coach at UNC in 2010. Bigelow also served as a defensive graduate assistant coach at Tulsa for two seasons.

Bigelow earned his bachelor’s degree, Summa Cum Laude, in 2010 from Northern Colorado in business management with a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tulsa in 2013 with a master’s degree in business administration. He was a three-year letterman placekicker at UNC and was the Big Sky Conference’s Scholar Athlete Award winner in 2010.

Fans are invited to participate in the Feb. 4 National Letter of Intent Signing Day festivities at the Valley Football Center, beginning at 7 a.m. A livestream will be available with interviews with coaches and highlights of head coach Gary Andersen’s first class of Beavers.
