BASEBALL: Beavs open series w/ win in extras

WANT TO KNOW what if feels like to pitch 10 innings of three-hit ball, strike out 10, allow one run ... and not get the W? Ask Oregon State's Andrew Moore. The Beavers' ace was superb on Friday night in the Beavs' 2-1 walk off win in 11 innings.

K.J. Harrison hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give Oregon State (10-3) the win over Fresno State.

Harrison's shot to left was a no-doubter, sending the Beavers to their sixth straight victory.

Beaver starter Andrew Moore tossed 112 pitches and faced 33 batters in his 10 innings of work. He gave way to Mitch Hickey in the 11th, who kept Fresno State off the board to earn his fourth win of the season.

Fresno State (7-6) starter Jimmy Lambert was equally sharp over his seven innings. Lambert also allowed just three hits and a run before giving way to his bullpen, which held the Beavers to two hits over the final three-plus innings.

Fortunately for Beaver fans, one of those hits was Harrison's home run.

Fresno State took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Taylor Ward hit into a double play, enabling Austin Guibor to score from third. The Beavers tied the game in the sixth when Jeff Hendrix hit his fourth home run of the season.

Moore allowed two hits in the fourth and an infield single in the sixth inning. And that was it. Moore and Hickey combined to allow just three baserunners after the sixth inning.

The Beavers and Bulldogs continue the series with a doubleheader Saturday at Goss Stadium. First pitch of game one is slated for 1:05 p.m. PT, with game two starting approximately 30-45 minutes after the completion of game one (the start time is estimated for 4:05 p.m.) Tickets are available and can be purchased at or at the Goss Stadium ticket office which opens at 11 a.m.
