Baseball: Cal Poly catches Beavs napping

OREGON STATE SUFFERED their first home loss of the season at Goss Stadium on Friday night. A six-run seventh inning propelled Cal Poly to an 8-1 victory with the big blow being a grand slam.

The Beavers (20-6 overall) and Mustangs (8-14) continue the series Saturday at 1:35 p.m. PT.

The Beavers managed just four hits off Cal Poly starter Casey Bloomquist, who picked up the win to improve to 2-2 on the year. The right-hander tossed a complete game, striking out three and walking none.

Andrew Moore took the loss, his first of the season, to drop to 2-1. He allowed four runs – three earned – in 6 1/3 innings. He left with a 2-1 deficit but had runners on first and second with one down when Zack Reser came on in relief. By the time the frame was over, OSU trailed 8-1.

K.J. Harrison led the Beavers with two hits.

A free live video stream will be available on osubeavers.com for Saturday's game. Fans can also catch the game live on the Beaver Sports Network and TuneIn.
