Hoops: Beavs open Pac-12 against Ducks

OREGON STATE won't need any extra motivation when the men's basketball conference slate arrives. A Civil War battle at Gill Coliseum opens the 2015-16 Pac-12 schedule for Wayne Tinkle and the Oregon State men’s basketball team, the Pac-12 Conference announced this week.

The Beavers will open the conference slate with three home games -- Oregon, Stanford and California -- before hitting the road to play Utah in Salt Lake City and Colorado in Boulder. UCLA, USC, WSU and UW will also visit Gill Coliseum during the 2015-16 season.

Oregon State is coming off a season in which it set a school record for its best start at Gill Coliseum (14-0) and the most home wins in a single season (15). The Beavers defeated No. 7 Arizona for their first win over a top-10 team in 15 years, and knocked off Arizona, UCLA and Washington in the same season for the first time since 1990.

The averaged attendance for men’s basketball at Gill Coliseum was 5,612, a 42.2 percent increase from the previous season, and the average attendance for Pac-12 games was 6,988, an increase of 47.8 percent. Both average increases were the highest in the Pac-12. The ticket base grew by 1,000 new season tickets through the “Commit2Wayne” campaign and saw the highest attendance by Oregon State students in more than 10 years.

Below is the tentative Pac-12 schedule, but the dates listed are when Oregon State will play either of the teams, with at least one day between each game. The exact dates and game times will be released in early September. The non-conference schedule will be released in the near future.
