Beavs land 3-star Pacific Northwest WR
Tyson Penn chose Oregon State over offers from WSU, Hawaii, Utah State and others.
Penn is one of Washington's top prep track athletes. He was the state champion in the high jump and triple jump in 2015, and is a five-time state champion over his high school career. (He won the 4A boys high jump for Federal Way his freshman season. Last year, as a sophomore, he won the high jump and the triple jump at 49-2).
His personal best in the high jump is 7-0.
What makes him an intriguing football prospect (apart from his size) is that he is still learning the game of football, having primarily been a track and field athlete.
He also plays in Bellevue's run-based wing-T offense, which doesn't lend itself to big receiving numbers.
Penn is rated the No. 2 receiver prospect in the state of Washington by Scout.com and No. 31 in the West.
