Oregon State Commit Capsule: Arex Flemings

With the graduation of Victor Bolden, the Beavers were on the hunt to find a fast receiver with great hands and route running ability. They found him at Cathedral High in Los Angeles.

Commit Capsule: Arex Flemings

Position: Wide Receiver

Hometown: Los Angeles, California

Height: 5-feet-7

Weight: 155

The Beavers are looking to use Flemings as an athlete, utilizing his talents at wide receiver, in the fly sweep and in the return game, a role that he is excited to play.

“I spoke with Coach Brennan and coach McGiven every single day since they offered," Flemings told Scout when he committed in June. "They made it very clear that they want to use me as a utility guy; they want the ball in my hands whether if it’s wide receiver, running back, kick returns or punt returns. They want me to be a flat out playmaker, and that was huge for me.”

Flemings chose Oregon State over offers from Idaho and Utah State.

BeaverBlitz spoke to West Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins for his take on Flemings.

BIGGIN'S TAKE:

Flemings is an undersized slot receiver but has great quickness and is explosive with the ball in his hands. He'll draw some Victor Bolden comparisons because of his size and playing style and that would definitely be a best case scenario for the Beavs. Flemings is tremendous in space and can take a short hitch, make a few guys miss and take it to the house. He's also very good on punt/kick returns and could be an early contributor on special teams.
