Flemings raves about Oregon State visit

Last weekend the Beavers played host to a number of official visitors including a trio from Los Angeles' Cathedral High School.

One member of that trio was Oregon State commit, Arex Flemings. The three-star wide out has been committed to Coach Gary Andersen's program since late June but this past weekend was the first time he had been to the state of Oregon, let alone Oregon State's campus.

"I loved every bit of my trip. The people were great, the fans were great, I loved the community that surrounds it, the campus and the town of Corvallis," Arex told BeaverBlitz. "It definitely exceeded my expectations, you know that was my first official visit and my first time in the state of Oregon. On my way there, I didn't really know what to expect but once we got there, I knew it was going to be a great time and it turned out to be just that."

The other two players from Cathedral who visited with Flemings were three-star cornerback Jeffrey Manning Jr., and new four-star wide receiver, Jamire Calvin. The three of them spent a lot of time with Flemings' player host and former high school teammate, walk-on wide-out Andre Bodden.

"It was definitely a bonus having us all there together. We all know one another real well so it was a good time," Flemings said. "Really though, we spent a lot of time with the recruiting coordinators too, as they were the ones who kind of showed us around and scheduled everything for us."

One of the surprises for Arex on his visit was how much time he got to spend with all of the coaches on the staff as they met several different times throughout the weekend and also dined together as well.

"Surprisingly, we got to spend a lot of time with the coaching staff. We had meetings with them and then one-on-one meetings and ate together multiple times. They took us off campus a couple times to eat and then we had breakfast back with the coaches up in the stadium. It was just great."

While this was Flemings' first official visit, it will also be his last as he is solid in his commitment.

"This is pretty much going to be my only visit. I feel like at this point, I am really solid with my commitment."

BeaverBlitz will continue to stay in touch with Flemings throughout his senior campaign in our weekly Following the Future feature and as signing day approaches.
