Arizona Game Notes

The Beavers host the Arizona Wildcats in a nightcap on Saturday. Here are notes from both programs.

Oregon State Notes:


  • Saturday’s game is the 38th in the series that dates back to 1966.
  • The Wildcats lead the overall series 22-14-1.
  • The Beavers have won six of the last eight and 12 of the last 15 in the series.
  • Oregon State won six in a row against Arizona from 1999-2004.
  • Seven of the last nine games have been decided by 10 points or fewer. 
  • The teams have not met in Corvallis since 2011 where Arizona holds a 9-7-1 advantage.
  • OSU won the last meeting at Reser Stadium 29-27, Oct. 8, 2011. Sean Mannion threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns and Jovan Stevenson rushed for 99 yards and a score.
  • Oregon State has had 11 games in which a player rushed for 100+ yards against the Wildcats with the most recent coming in 2012 when Storm Woods rushed past the Cats for 161 yards on 29 carries and a score.
  • The Beavers have had 300-yard passers six times against Arizona with the most recent coming in 2012 when Sean Mannion aired it out for 433 yards on 29-45 passing with three TDs in the win.
  • OSU has had 12 100-yard receiving games against Arizona as well, with the most recent being in 2012 when Markus Wheaton caught 10 balls for 166 yards and two TDs, and Brandin Cooks made nine grabs for 149 yards.

Arizona Game Notes

  • Arizona will make its first trip to Corvallis since 2011, the year prior to head coach Rich Rodriguez’s arrival at the school.
  • The Wildcats own a 9-7-1 advantage in the series for games played in Corvallis.  
  • UA lost its last game at Oregon State (2011), but has won two of the last three games at Reser Stadium.
  • This will mark the final road trip for Arizona’s senior class.
  • Arizona seeks to snap a 7-game losing streak while the Beavers have lost five in a row.
  • Samajie Grant coverted from WR to RB and he is averaging 84.67 yards per game as a runner. That would be 4th-best per game average in the Pac-12 if not for his games played as a WR.
  • Arizona will play 10 of its 12 games this season at 7:30 p.m. or later local time.
  •  NG Parker Zellers, despite three games missed due to injury, is tied for the team lead with 3.0 sacks and has two fumbles forced.
  •  QB Anu Solomon returned from injury to start against OSU last season. He threw for 276 yards in that contest.
  • Arizona is second in the Pac-12 averaging 214.7 rushing yards per game.
  • Zach Green and Samajie Grant each scored their first career rushing touchdowns last week.
  • Reserve LB Brandon Rutt intercepted his first career pass last weekend.
