Paul Lucas, a 5-foot-11, 188 pound running back from Phoenix, Arizona announced that he was leaving the Oregon State football program on Tuesday. Lucas plans to transfer, but has not announced his destination as of yet.
"I would like to thank the entire coaching staff for the love and support they have given me over the last two seasons here at Oregon State University," he said in a statement. "It truly has been a pleasure to be a part of a great program and family like this."
"It has been a tough decision for me to make, but after careful consideration and talking with my parents I have decided to transfer from OSU," he said.
Lucas, a highly touted recruit out of Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix, committed to Oregon State on Signing Day 2015. In 2015, as a true freshman, he tallied 171 yards in 22 carries, while this year he had 99 yards in 29 carries. He also had seven receptions during his two years at Oregon State for 84 yards.
"I will miss all of my brothers and friends that my family and I have made here in Corvallis and especially the amazing fans," he said. "Go Beavs."
